Delfi’s™ state-of-the-art Emergency & Military Tourniquet was designed to combine a high level of tourniquet safety with durable portability. In ground-based tactical situations and pre-hospital settings, the tourniquet is used as a life-saving haemorrhage control device.
Based on proven surgical tourniquet designs, the Delfi E.M.T. completely stops blood flow, is fast and simple to self-apply, and requires minimal training.
The EMT has been recommended for medics and medic vehicles by the US Army Institute for Surgical Research.
They found in the tests that the EMT pneumatic tourniquet was wider and thus significantly less painful than any device tested and is much less likely to induce nerve damage compared to either of the strap tourniquets (SOFTT and CAT) The EMT worked in 100% of all trials.
Lightweight and Compact
The EMT weighs only 220 grams (7.8 oz) in total, and wraps up to a total packed size of only 5 x 2.75 x 2.5 inches, making it ideal for medical workers on the move.
Volunteer tested for one-handed application and inflate to occlusion pressure: the average time required was less than 30 seconds after a 5 minute training session. If a medic is trying to maintain pressure on a wound, it can be crucial to apply the tourniquet with only one hand.
Fits Upper & Lower Limbs
The EMT can pass over a limb, or wrap around (if the distal end of limb is inaccessible). It can be used on an arm or a leg, with a maximum circumference of 34″ or a minimum circumference of 3″
Sturdy aluminum clamp is lightweight and durable; not easily damaged in the elements.
Rapid Manual Inflation
The clamp pinches the bladder at exactly the circumference required, so inflation is only necessary for the used length of bladder. The average tester required less than 30 seconds to apply and inflate.
Optimized Bladder Width
A wider bladder width results in the need for lower pressure to fully occlude the limb. In this case, it is also far less painful and will cause less nerve damage.
