| Delfi’s new Tourniquet Cuff
Application Guide is designed to assist surgical
staff in selection of the most appropriate
tourniquet cuff for each patient and surgical
procedure. This helps provide each patient with
the safest and most effective treatment possible. The
Guide was developed in consultation with Jim
McEwen PhD, a biomedical engineer, inventor of
automatic tourniquets, and President of Delfi
Medical Innovations. Dr. McEwen holds patents
covering most of the commonly used tourniquet
instruments and cuffs in operating rooms today,
and has been extensively involved in tourniquet
evaluation and development for more than 20
years.
The Guide is based on current tourniquet
literature and recommended practice guidelines,
and is consistent with current AORN Recommended
Practices on the Pneumatic Tourniquet and
manufacturers’ instructions. To obtain the
